Surrey Constables are investigating several incidents of anti-Muslim graffiti found at various locations in central Newton.

The most recent incident was reported to Surrey RCMP on Wednesday.

Surrey RCMP said people reported graffiti on a garbage can, on commercial property and on a utility pole near a mosque in the area of ​​72nd Avenue and King George Boulevard.

“These types of incidents have a significant impact on the sense of safety and security of members of our Muslim community,” said Surrey RCMP spokesperson Const. Sarbjit K. Sangha.

Sangha said hate crimes and hate-motivated criminal activity have no place in Surrey.
