“A feeling without expectation,” Matt said of his idea of love, adding that this kind of feeling shouldn’t be “conditional.”

Gemma, for her part, looked disappointed that Matt didn’t share her romantic vision and take the time to connect with her.

“I expect effort because effort is attractive,” she told an uneasy Matt, lamenting that he didn’t attempt to connect with her.

“It’s a very painful situation to be in,” she told producers.

Tensions came to a head over dinner with Chanita and Jordan later. A tearful Gemma ended up leaving after confronting Matt for not wanting to spend time with her.

“Just to set the record straight, there was no cheating, there was no betrayal, Gemma and I hadn’t been together for seven days and we had been apart more than we never been together,” Matt commented on his Instagram Stories.

These scenes have yet to air on the E4 show, but tonight’s preview for the next episode seemed to confirm that Matt and Whitney might have a “secret crush” on each other.
