Final days of Brian Boyle’s Rally for 11 contest; Fundraising for children in need
Not all Pittsburgh Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers entanglements have to be nasty, hate-filled battles, even between warriors Kevin Hayes and Brian Boyle. Last August, the hockey world mourned the untimely passing of Jimmy Hayes, a former multi-team NHL player and Penguins farmer. Hayes was only 31 and left behind two sons and a wife.
Hayes’ last professional season was 2018-19, spent primarily with the WBS Penguins. He played 72 games for WBS with 30 points (15-15-30). Hayes played in 334 NHL games and scored 54 goals. He played a career-high 75 games with the Boston Bruins in 2015-16.
His brother Kevin, a Philadelphia Flyers center, and his former teammate Brian Boyle raise money for the charity Rally for 11, which benefits children in need at Saint Joseph’s School in Dorchester, Massachusetts , where Jimmy and his 4 siblings attended school.

Brian Boyle returned to the NHL with the Pittsburgh Penguins on a power grab in training camp and made the team. It was one of the most pleasant surprises in recent memory. He has 15 points, including nine goals in 55 games, and has become a mainstay in the Penguins’ deep roster. Along with Boyle, the Penguins are second-most shorthanded in the NHL.
Contest entries close Sunday at midnight CST.
