Cases filed against Bandi Sanjay for hate speech
Hyderabad: Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leaders on Thursday filed police complaints against BJP Head of State Bandi Sanjay for delivering hate speech in the town of Karimnagar. The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has called on the state government to take action against Sanjay and the Muslim Congress leaders have also decided to press charges against the BJP leader, who delivered the speech on Wednesday .
Local TRS leaders filed two separate complaints with Sanjay at II-Town Police Station in Karimnagar. They demanded strong action against him for making provocative remarks against Muslims, mosques and madarsas.
They asked the police to register the cases against Sanjay, who is also an MP for Karimnagar, under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
AIMIM has urged Chief Minister of Telangana K Chandrashekar Rao and Director General of Police M Mahender Reddy to take “exemplary” measures to prevent untoward incidents and protect community harmony in Telangana.
The party tweeted that the BJP government in the Center has done nothing for the people of Telangana in the past eight years and that is why Sanjay is spreading hate.
Meanwhile, Telangana Congress Minorities Department Chairman Abdullah Sohail Shaik announced that party leaders in all 33 districts will file police complaints against Sanjay.
He claimed the police should have taken suo moto note of the hate speech and registered a case, but no action was taken as the ruling TRS “has a secret deal with the BJP”.
The Congress leader alleged that Sanjay was desperate to get public attention by making highly provocative statements. He said the BJP leader initially aimed for a 4% reserve for Muslims and the Urdu language and now demanded to dig under all mosques.
Speaking to the Hindu Ekta Yarta in Karimnagar on Wednesday, Sanjay had alleged that Muslim rulers in Telangana had demolished several temples and built mosques on them. He demanded digging works in all mosques, saying it was possible to find Shiva Lingams underneath.
The BJP MP also said that if the BJP comes to power in Telangana, it will abolish all madrasas, remove reservations for Muslims and remove Urdu as a second official language.
